October 5: Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival and Meet the Author

Join us for the ninth annual Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival at Brackenridge Park! I started this Festival back in 2016 in response to San Antonio gaining status as the FIRST Monarch Butterfly Champion City in the country. One of the requirements of that designation was that we stage a Festival. So with the help of many community collaborators, we did!

Last year, in 2023, my Festival partner the amazing Ashley Bird was handed the reins as I focused on finishing my book, The Monarch Butterfly Migration Its Rise and Fall. Now the Festival takes on a new leader and a new life, and will take flight from 9 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, October 5, at Brackenridge Park in the heart of San Antonio. It’s FREE.

I’ll be on hand from 10 AM – noon to chat with readers and sign book, which will be for sale. Come join us for a FREE, fun-filled day celebrating the monarch butterfly, pollinators, and the ecosystems that sustain them, and us.

Activities include monarch tagging, a Monarch Migration Obstacle Course, hands-on educational activities provided by local community organizations, the People as Pollinators Experiment where everyone becomes a pollinator for the day, and more.

Hope to see you there! –Monika
